Treatment of Allograft Rejection

Research Summary

Dr. Thistlethwaite's PHD is in immunology, and he has more than 200 published research papers on transplantation, immunology and anti-rejection medications. His research has focused on the T cell receptor and co-receptors in an attempt to develop biological reagents that can be used as drugs to prevent transplant rejection. He is currently the principal investigator of a multi-center trial sponsored by the Immune Tolerance Network and the National Institutes of Health studying the mechanism by which immune tolerance develops following clinical liver transplantation. He has received multiple other research grants from the NIH in the past.
